April 13, 1959 – January 7, 2019
Deborah Jo Miles, formally Deborah Jo Eggers, 59, of Kansas City, Kansas passed away on January 7th, 2019 at the home of her sister, Susanne.
Deborah was born in Iowa City, Iowa. She grew up in Overland Park, Kansas and attended Shawnee Mission West High School. She worked for Bayer Animal Health in Shawnee, Kansas for 30 years. She obtained her Bachelors Degree in Business Administration with finance from Park University, Parkville Missouri and an Associate Degree in Accounting from Kansas City Community College, Kansas City, Kansas.
Deborah's community service included: Friends of Parkville Animal Shelter, Bayer Community Service Committee where she was a committee member and Treasurer Officer, Civil Air Patrol, United States Air Force Auxiliary, 2nd Lieutenant and Finance Officer, American Royal volunteer, Army Volunteer Corps at Fort Leavenworth, North Kansas City Hospital volunteer in maternity, member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Deborah was preceded in death by her father William C. Eggers. She is survived by her mother Joan Eggers - Lee's Summit, Missouri, brother Michael Eggers and his spouse Sandra Eggers - Lee's Summit, Missouri, sister Susanne Stockman and her spouse Mark Stockman - Lee's Summit, Missouri, and her brother Steven Eggers and his spouse Paula Eggers - Shawnee, Kansas. She also leaves her children Jessica Hodges and her spouse Phil Hodges - Roeland Park, Kansas, James Miles and his spouse Heather Miles - Gardner, Kansas. Deborah also leaves her grandson, Nathan Shultz and granddaughter, Elliot Miles. Her heart for volunteering and helping others will always be remembered.
A Memorial Visitation will be held from 10:00am to 11:00am on Saturday, February 16, 2019 in the East Venue at Westside Family Church at 8500 Woodsonia Drive, Lenexa, Kansas 66227. This will be followed by a Celebration of Life at 11:00am at the church. Private interment will be held at a later date in the Resthaven Cemetery in Des Moines, Iowa.2
She was buried at Resthaven Cemetery, West Des Moines, Polk County, IA.3
