Catharine Merkel is also referred to as Katharina Merkel in some sources. She was born on 26 February 1793. She was the daughter of Christian Merkel and Catharine Boyer. Catharine Merkel married Johannes Wiest circa 1813.1 Catharine Merkel died on 2 May 1858, at age 65.2 She was buried at Zion (Klinger's) Church Cemetery, Erdman, Lykens Township, Dauphin County, PA.3
