Newspaper obituary:
Lawrence W. Troutman, 92, Dornsife DORNSIFE
Lawrence W. Troutman, 92, of Dornsife, and a resident of Nottingham Village, Northumberland, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2015. He entered into eternity, joining his loving wife Effie Jean Troutman who went before him.
Lawrence was born Jan. 29, 1922, in RR Dornsife, a son of the late Clarence and Goldie (Kiefer) Troutman.
Lawrence grew up on a farm and all his working life was a successful farmer, loving what he did.
He was an excellent mechanic and there wasn't much he couldn't fix. He enjoyed his family and loved traveling with his wife seeing much of the United States. He especially enjoyed spending winters in Florida.
He was known for his love of music and his natural musical ability, playing his accordion at family gatherings, as well as at church. He enjoyed hunting and successfully harvested 3 bears.
He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church Red Cross.
Lawrence realized how blessed he was as his family grew through the years. It's bittersweet to let a loved one go. It's hard to say goodbye. But to know they've gone to Heaven and will see Jesus and loved ones, that's the sweet part.
He is survived by seven children, six daughters and five sons-in-law, Jean and Guy Ferster, of RR Dornsife, Carol and Bob Koppenhaver, of Harrington, Del., Beverly and Dennis Zart-man, of RR Herndon, Nancy and Bob Troutman, of RR Sunbury, Joan Troutman, of Lewes, Del., and Katie and Rick Shaffer, of RR Sunbury; one son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Kathy Troutman, of RR Dornsife; two sisters, June Scheib and Ruth Schaffer, both of RR Dornsife; 22 grandchildren and their spouses; 42 greatgrandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
